We gather in silence to wait upon God. The Meeting has no clergy for we believe there is that of God in everyone. By listening to God's guidance in the moment, an individual may experience a true leading of the Divine Spirit and be strongly moved to rise and speak. Such vocal ministry is generally brief, plainly spoken so all may hear, and grounded in the speaker's spiritual experience. A period of silence following a message is important to allow time for all to reflect upon it. Hopefully, the spoken words will not be an interruption of the silence, but rather a component part of it. A Meeting with no vocal ministry may be one where we are profoundly aware of the Divine Spirit's presence and leading. Together we strive to discern God's will. |
